Bad Brains (also known as The Yellow Tape or Attitude: The ROIR Sessions) is the debut studio album recorded by American hardcore punk/reggae band Bad Brains. Recorded in 1981 and released on the cassette-only label ROIR on February 5, 1982, many fans refer to it as "The Yellow Tape" because of its yellow packaging, much in the way that the Beatles' self-titled record is often called "The White Album"

The new album, which continues the Brains' efforts to meld punk, metal and reggae, also reunites the band with former Cars frontman Ric Ocasek, who produced 1983's "Rock for Light," arguably the definitive Brains release. Love" is an improvement over the quartet's previous disc, made two years ago while . was AWOL, but the album's balance between rock and reggae doesn't suit the band's abilities especially well  . Such moments, however, are not typical of "God," the band's sixth studio album. Know's playing is as fluid as ever, but in this context his ability is largely squandered. About half of the 12 songs are loping reggae tunes, and the addition of horns, backup vocals and percussion accents doesn't significantly diminish their monotony.

Bad Brains was originally released in February 1982 in cassette-only format on Reachout International Records (ROIR). The DVD of their Everything Under the Sun also contained a live version of "Leaving Babylon". John Frusciante of Red Hot Chili Peppers covered "Big Takeover" on his first solo album, Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt.

Bad Brains quickly became one of the most popular punk bands on the East Coast, particularly in their hometown of Washington, . Their live performances were legendary, but their recordings were difficult to find. Their debut single, "Pay to Cum," was pressed in limited numbers, and their 1982 debut album was only issued in cassette form by ROIR. The handful of indie recordings Bad Brains left behind, as well as their live shows, made the band legendary in American hardcore, yet few potential fans could actually hear the band due to poor distribution and erratic touring. The band took three years to deliver the follow-up to Rock for Light, finally releasing I Against I on SST in 1986. and Hudson left the band shortly after the album's release, and the band was dropped by Maverick.
