Released in 1996 on Thump Records, Katalina's debut (and only) studio effort "Sonic Groove" failed to chart, but it did spawn one Top 100 hit: DJ Girl, which peaked at number 86 on the Hot 100. The song was met with a much warmer welcome in clubs as the more adult oriented version titled DJ Whore. Sonic Groove" is a mixture of dance and pop with a distinctive freestyle sound.
