Ralf und Florian (English title: Ralf and Florian) is the third studio album by the German electronic band Kraftwerk. It was released in October 1973 on Philips. Along with Kraftwerk's first two albums, Ralf und Florian to date has never been officially re-issued on compact disc. However, the album remains an influential and sought-after work, and bootlegged CDs were widely distributed in the 1990s on the Germanofon label.
Beware of fake copies of the musicomix cartoon poster. The original shows, when folded, on the front a traffic cone in grey with the Kraftwerk logo also in grey. On faked copies, the cone shows the red stripes and the Kraftwerk logo is in solid black. Above this, in the original, the colour drawing is smooth and not grainy. On faked copies, it looks grainy.

This album has a fuller sound than the band's previous two albums, which is probably due to the fact that the album was recorded at five studios (one of which was the Kling Klang studio). There are two different versions of the album - a English and German version. However, the only difference between the two versions is that the tracks are listed on the back of the sleeve of the English version are written in English.
Ralf & Florian is the album where Kraftwerk started to sound like Kraftwerk that we all know and love so much. The electronic experimentations from the last album have finally worked their way into intertwining with the music instead of just being junky noise. This isn't quite the Kraftwerk robo-electro progressive pop yet, though. This album is equal parts progressive electronic and krautrock, but you can hear the obvious development in sound that would become to define Kraftwerk
How can Ralf Hutter not recognise this album as one of their best. Absolutely beautiful, melodic, melancholic. It gives a sense of being part of a bigger and better Europe. This is Kraftwerk at their absolute best! ogrebattle22763. Been listening to Kraftwerk for 40 years but it's the first time I have ever heard this album! It's amazing!! I feel foolish for letting this one slip through the net! Thought I had the lot. JennGibson Music
Continuing to work with Conny Plank, who once again provides a compelling job as producer and engineer, Kraftwerk went right ahead and named their new album after their two remaining members - an understandable enough move
