Steven Lee Lukather (born October 21, 1957) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, arranger and record producer, best known as the sole continuous founding member of the rock band Toto. A prolific session musician, Lukather has recorded guitar tracks for more than 1,500 albums representing a broad array of artists and genres. He has also contributed to albums and hit singles as a songwriter, arranger and producer.
Steve Lukather’s new album Transition on Mascot Records strikes a perfect balance of style, power and imagination as he takes risks and challenges himself in ways most other players can’t even approach.
All's Well That Ends Well (Steve Lukather album). All's Well That Ends Well is the sixth studio album by Steve Lukather, released on vinyl and as a jewel case CD on October 11, 2010 by Mascot Records. The album is dedicated to his late mother Kathy.
In 1976, when Lukather was nineteen years old, he was invited by his high school friends David Paich and the Porcaro brothers Steve and Jeff to join them in forming their band, Toto. He has been a member of the band ever since it began, and is still fully contributing to their album composition and touring.
Bottom line: Steve Lukather is an ultimate survivor of trends and tribulations in the music business. And by the way, he’s one of the finest guitarists to define the instrument in the modern age. Many aspiring players in the studio traded on the sonic cachet Luke established through his landmark outings with Toto, Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Chicago, Don Henley, Lionel Ritchie, The Tubes, Cheap Trick, Randy Newman, Stevie Nicks, Boz Scaggs, and others. Luke returned recently with a new solo album. Ever Changing Times boasts a strong fusion of great songs, well-crafted arrangements and loads of guitar gems. We caught up with Luke for a chat and equipment hang at his gear haven in Hollywood Studio Rentals.
Steve Lukather, Toto's veteran guitarist, isn't a newcomer to rock. Along with his Toto work, he has played on albums like Michael Jackson's Thriller, solidifying his reputation as a guitarist who's sound has touched the ears of millions. His new album,Transition, is a bold statement, and shows that even after all these years, Lukather isn't ready to slow down. You must be really excited about Transition. I’m lucky to still be doing this after 36 years.
