Lace and Whiskey is the third solo album by Alice Cooper, released in May 1977. After many years of portraying a dark and sinister persona Alice Cooper decided to try something new and donned the persona of a heavy drinking comic PI named "Maurice Escargot" - a fictional character in the same vein as Inspector Clouseau.
Alice Cooper - Lace And Whiskey (1977).
Lace and Whiskey is Cooper’s eccentric love letter to vintage Hollywood and pop culture. Ditching his devilish alter ego for a noir-style private investigator, he tries out a slew of styles, including a sentimental ballad wrapped in velvety strings and crooner vocals ( You and Me ) and a frantic rockabilly number recorded like an old Sun single ( Ubangi Stomp ). When Cooper sticks close to his trademark hard rock ( It’s Hot Tonight ), the rich, smoky production harks back to pop music from a bygone era. Lace and Whiskey Alice Cooper.
