Lost but rarely idle our man Lost Idol co-founded Cookshop with La Femme back in 2002 as an unrestrictive output for his own creations and other assortments of ear candy he was keen on. But the story doesn't start here. Previous to Cookshop he had releases on cult Hull-based label Pork Recordings and has also released music on Rome's premier electronics label Nature (as one half of J-Spool) and on the Session label as . Lost Idol will be returning with his 2nd album for Cookshop later this year, follow up to 2006's acclaimed 'Utters From A Cluttered Mind'. Entitled 'Brave The Elements', it takes things on a more instrumental electronic route than its predecessor.

UK-based electronic artist Lost Idol returns with his third studio album following the acclaimed Utters From A Cluttered Mind (Cookshop, 2006), Brave The Elements (Cookshop, 2010) and releases through Marco Passarani's Nature Recordings and Pork Recordings. The passage of time is a curious thing. Lost Idol is the nom de plume of James Dean; a sonic explorer circling the periphery of contemporary electronic-based music. Much of his music has been released on the Cookshop record label including two critically acclaimed albums ‘Brave The Elements’ and ‘Utters From A Cluttered Mind’. He has also appeared on the influential Pork Recordings imprint and as part of J's Pool for Nature Recordings.

James Dean - who calls himself Lost Idol to avoid confusion with that other lost idol of the American silver screen - is a Brighton-based music producer and entrepreneur, head of the boutique Cookshop label and occasional creator of sublime electronic music of his own devising. His last full release was 2006's Utters from a Cluttered Mind, a sun-streaked psychedelic affair that drew comparisons, and a support slot, with Caribou  . This is an autumn or winter album certainly, but shot through with a yearning for simpler, more hedonistic and warmer times, trying to recall their spirit, but summoning up only pale ghosts instead.
