When we were composing the song, we wanted to write from within the narrative of the movie and the scenes that struck us the most from it, the siblings said in a joint statement. They further explained that even the sounds that took place in the film are laced within the song. The song will appear on the album Music Inspired By Roma, to be released by Sony Music Masterworks. The album will feature various artists that were hand-picked by Cuarón, with all of the songs pulling from specific scenes and sounds from the film. There is no set release date for the album yet. In their statement about the song, Eilish and O'Connell added, Nothing about this song would exist without the film, which is exactly what we love about it. Stream the new song below.

British pop star Robbie Williams recorded a version for his album Swing When You're Winning (2001), in duet with Sinatra's original vocals. The instrumental track was also sampled from Sinatra's original recording. Frank Sinatra's version of the song was featured in the Spike Lee film Jungle Fever (1991). In a 1993 episode of The Simpsons ("Duffless"), Homer sings a parody of this song entitled "I Drank Some Very Good Beer", recounting the first beer he ever purchased (with a fake ID; his name was Brian McGee) and he "stayed up listening to Queen. The Reverend Horton Heat covered the song in 2000 and released it as a single to promote the album Spend a Night in the Box (2000). It has been adapted in French, as "C'était une très bonne année", by Robert Charlebois on his album Doux sauvage (2001). Paul Young included a cover version on his album The Essential Paul Young (2003).

Country singer Roy Clark, who had just started his long-running gig as the co-host of Hee Haw, covered the song in 1969 and landed in the Top 10 on the country chart. Clark's spoken-word intro leads into a somber recollection of a wasted youth that led to a lonely adulthood: It seems the love I've known Has always been the most destructive kind I guess that's why now I feel so old Before my time. Clark honored a request from Mickey Mantle and sang this at the former New.

Songs from the North III: The third and final album is 51 minutes and 57 seconds. The heavy guitar affects, the slow monotonous drums, and the almost guttural deep vocals set a fantastic closures to this epic release. And remember when I moved in you The holy dove was moving too And every breath we drew was Hallelujah. Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah. You say I took the name in vain I don't even know the name But if I did, well really, what's it to you? There's a blaze of light in every word It doesn't matter which you heard The holy or the broken Hallelujah. Cohen originally wrote around 80 verses of the song, and used a different selection of the verses in the original recording and in a 1988 live performance. The song wasn’t all that popular when it first came out. However, it was covered by John Cale, in 1991, for a tribute album. He used the modified lyrics, based on Cohen’s 1988 live version. Jeff Buckley heard Cale’s version and did his own cover on his 1994 album Grace.
