Four people in a tiny San Francisco room playing overly loud doomy folk music (post-americana?) singing songs about the fibrodysplasia of the green world, animal rebellion, and the hope that maybe, just maybe, if we don't destroy everything first you might have the chance to pet a wolf before it tears your throat out in a vengeance killing. Too Much Ha Ha, Pretty Soon Boo Hoo. Jan 2017.
This is perhaps one of the greatest psychedelic rock albums ever released. This seven-piece Australian band created a 41 minute album in which every song segues into one another, creating a throttling, cohesive experience that never seems to end. This endless feeling is helped by the fact that the album doesn't actually end at all. Yes, you read that correctly, this album is designed to play indefinitely. Shutting one's self off to an entire genre of music is a perfect way to miss beautiful records such as this one. The Sad Bastard Book Club is a country rock band that initially started out as an actual book club in San Francisco. After sharing with one another a mutual love of listening and creating music, the band began recording. Though they've been at it since 2008, this EP is my first time listening them and I love everything I've heard so far.

The Sad Bastard Book Club was formed in 2004 as an actual book club in San Francisco. Since then, it has become a musical project of varying members and sounds. Over the past 9 years, they have created a number of conflicting biographies, making biographical information purposely sketchy and unreliable. Many of these recordings were put out by Devil's Ruin Records in 2008 as the album The Collected Short Stories of Carrie Anne Crowe. and the sirens sang of a time when there were no foghorns. 22. just keep talking.
