Common People" is a song by English alternative rock band Pulp, released in May 1995 as the lead single off their fifth studio album Different Class. It reached number two on the UK Singles Chart, becoming a defining track of the Britpop movement and Pulp's signature song in the process. In 2014, BBC Radio 6 Music listeners voted it their favourite Britpop song in an online poll. In 2015, Rolling Stone readers voted it the greatest Britpop song in a poll.
Produced by Chris Thomas. Album Different Class. Common People Lyrics. She came from Greece, she had a thirst for knowledge She studied sculpture at Saint Martin's College That's where I Caught her eye She told me that her Dad was loaded I said "In that case, I'll have rum and coca-cola" She said "fine" And then in thirty seconds time she said.

Common People Lyrics. Pulp – Common People. Never live like common people Never do what common people do Never fail like common people Never watch your life slide out of view And then dance and drink and screw Because there's nothing else to do. Wanna live with common people like you Wanna live with common people like you Wanna live with common people like you Wanna live with common people like you Wanna live with common people like you Wanna live with common people like you Wanna live with common people like you. Oh yeah. Lyrics submitted by SongMeanings.
Lyrics for Common People by Pulp, full version.
They showed me a picture and it definitely wasn't her. I dunno. Maybe she wasn't Greek. Maybe I misheard he. Pulp debuted this at the Reading Festival in 1994. The other eight songs were done while 'Common People' was in the Top 10. That state of excitement, knowing for once in your life you had a mass audience, gave us the confidence, certainly gave me the confidence, to bring certain things out of myself. Many bands come to resent the song that they are most known for, but evidently Pulp have never had that problem with "Common People" - at their comeback show at Reading Festival 2011, Cocker noted before they performed the song that "if Pulp are only ever remembered for this song, I don't care, it's a good.
She came from Greece, she had a thirst for knowledge She studied sculpture at Saint Martin's College, That's where I Caught her eye. She told me that her dad was loaded I said, "In that case I'll have a rum and coca-cola. She said, "Fine," And in thirty seconds time She said, "I want to live like common people. I want to do whatever common people do, I want to sleep with common people I want to sleep with common people like yo. Well, what else could I do? I said, "I'll see what I can d.

Still, people mainly ended up listening to the album version, so it was a classic case of fighting the label and then winning by default. In the UK, 'Common People' was issued as a single in May 1995 and the following month it was the climax of Pulp's landmark appearance at the Glastonbury Festival, headlining on the Saturday night when a mountain-biking accident suffered by the Stone Roses' lead guitarist John Squire forced them to pull out at the last minute.
