Accelerate is by some considerable distance REM’s best and most cohesive album since Berry left, and crucially echoes a time when they made their best music, if not necessarily their biggest-selling. It's a sharp contrast to the rest of Accelerate, on which . stop overthinking things-and start roaring toward the future.
Accelerate arrives in 2008 as the first studio album in four years from . and it finds modern rock's most acclaimed band returning to the stripped down, guitar-driven power that first enraptured fans. I've been an REM fan for a long time. Green" came out during my freshman year of high school and I latched onto that album in that special way only a young kid just getting into music can. I played that tape (remember those?) in my Walkman damn near every day and I memorized every line and every riff well. they became mediocre.

REM return from their trip Around The Sun at godspeed. The songs are faster in tempo, conceptually edgier and, thanks to the help of grunge producer Jacknife Lee, more rock-and-roll than anything they’ve released in the past several years. If those last few albums were polished down to a nice elegant sheen, this one is, right out the gate, from the opening guitar riff, a throwback to the old dirty garage-band days.

Accelerate is the fourteenth studio album by American band . due for release on April 1, 2008 in North America and a day earlier in Europe and the rest of the world (though dates will differ in some countries). Work commenced in early 2007, and the album title was revealed by the band in an issue of Q Magazine. s three previous studio albums, which all featured Pat McCarthy on production duties, Accelerate was produced by Jacknife Lee.
