The Botho-Lucas-Chor was one of the most famous German vocal ensembles of the 1960s and 1970s. In 1958, Botho Lucas (1923–2012) founded the Lucas Quartet (Botho Lucas, Bernd Golonsky, Günter Kallmann, Ralf Paulsen), from which the Botho-Lucas-Chor emerged in 1961 with changing female casts - Kästel, Ans Plevier, Daisy Door, Ulla Wiesner, Hanna Dölitsch), first as a studio ensemble with well-known performers but soon with its own, solo works.
