Gisele Ben-Dor conducting Mahler Symphony No. 1, 4t. .Her latest disc on Delos entitled The Soul of Tango with the Santa Barbara Symphony includes tango-related works by Argentine composers Piazzolla and Academy Award winner Luis Bakalov, including two world premieres and featuring Bandonean virtuoso Juanjo Mosalini. Ms Ben-Dor currently has a multiple disc contract with Naxos for new recordings of music of Ginastera (notably Ollantay and Popol Vuh) with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Maestra Ben-Dor is currently Conductor Laureate of the Santa Barbara Symphony.

Gisele Ben-Dor was born in Uruguay and immigrated to Israel in 1973. She graduated from the Rubin Academy of Music, Tel Aviv University and the Yale School of Music, also studying with Mendi Rodan in Jerusalem. Maestro Ben-Dor is currently Conductor Laureate of the Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra and Conductor Emerita of the Boston Pro-Arte Chamber Orchestra, a post to which she was elected exclusively by the musicians  . Gisèle Ben-Dor (1994-2006) succeeded Kojian in 1994, and put the Symphony on the map with several acclaimed recordings. She also started the Symphony’s community music festivals, which continue today as the successful International Guitar and Percussion Festivals. In October 2008, Kabaretti led the Santa Barbara Symphony into a new era at the lovingly restored Granada Theatre

Gisele Ben-Dor was born in Uruguay and immigrated to Israel in 1973. She made her conducting debut with the Israel Philharmonic in Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring," televised and broadcast by the BBC/London throughout Europe and Israel, as part of a series of masterclasses with Zubin Mehta.
