Another Lesson in Violence is a live album by the thrash metal band Exodus. This album comes after a large line-up change for Exodus. Paul Baloff, who originally left in 1986 after the release of Bonded by Blood, makes a return on vocals. Tom Hunting returns after leaving just before the Fabulous Disaster tour in 1989 due to illness. This is also Exodus's first album to feature Jack Gibson on bass. Robb Flynn of Vio-lence and Machine Head makes a guest appearance on "A Lesson in Violence".

This album, Exodus' second live album (the first being 1991's Good Friendly Violent Fun) is my favourite Exodus album. This album was the product of Exodus' reunion in 1997 with 4/5ths of the line-up from their highly acclaimed debut, Bonded By Blood. The only member missing is original bassist Rob McKillop, who was replaced by current bassist Jack Gibson. This album was recorded in at the Trocadero, in Exodus' home town San Francisco. It was the first show of their American reunion tour, and has a fantastic sound. There is also a guest performance from Robb Flynn on A Lesson In Violence, which I guess is cool if you're a Machine Head fan. You can't actually hear another guitar in the mix, so for the rest of us it doesn't matter. I didn't actually know until I read about it.

Too often, bands like to think that they can space on live quality and pretty much deliver shitty sounding music. All in all, "Another Lesson in Violence" should be the standard of live recording, and it perfectly illustrates the ferocity of the mightiest Bay Area Thrashers, Exodus.
