Handcream for a Generation is the fourth studio album by the British indie rock band Cornershop, released on April 1, 2002 by Wiiija. Handcream for a Generation features contributions from two Oasis members. Noel Gallagher contributed guitar to "Spectral Mornings" and former Oasis bassist Guigsy played bass on "Lessons Learned from Rocky I to Rocky III"

That Cornershop would be the band to take this "It's a Small World" approach is no big surprise, given the poly-ethnic nature of their previous records for David Byrne's Luaka Bop imprint. The band broke out of the world music ghetto with 1997's When I Was Born for the 7th Time, an album that delighted in throwing traditional Indian heritage and instrumentation up against pretty much every Western music style in the book.

Cornershop formed in the early 90s in Leicester, England. Theyre first album Hold on it Hurts was released in 1994. Although in the next few years they released more albums, they did not achieve mainstream success until 1997s hit single Brimful of Asha from the album When I was Born for the 7th time. Since than, Cornershop had not had any other hit songs, but they still continued to release albums, including 2002s Handcream for a Generation. Handcream for a Generation is an excellent album. Its not too different from their other albums, but not too similar

Handcream for a Generation is a dazzling return. Its 13 tracks throw disparate styles together with a confidence that recalls the early-1980s Clash. In contrast to the sour-faced duo trudging through Brimful of Asha, the band playing on Handcream for a Generation sound positively gleeful. This is record-collection rock of the best kind, an album audibly in love with music and its boundless possibilities. Most of the lyrics are opaque to the point of incomprehension: anyone who knows what Singh is driving at in Wogs Will Walk deserves a cash prize.
