The sixth in a seven volume of two-fer LPs that reissue all of clarinetist Artie Shaw's recordings for Victor during 1938-45, after including the last session by his fourth orchestra, concentrates on his fifth big band, a modern swing outfit from 1944-45 that featured trumpeter Roy Eldridge, pianist Dodo Marmarosa and guitarist Barney Kessel among others. Quite a few of the arrangements are memorable; among the classics are Jimmy Mundy's "Lady Day," Eddie Sauter's "Summertime," Buster Harding's "Little Jazz" and Ray Coniff's "'S.
