New Music Biennial is a showcase of composers and music creators who are pushing the boundaries of music in the UK. The festival, presented in association with the PRS for Music Foundation, is a unique snapshot of contemporary music in the UK across all genres: classical, world music, jazz, folk, electronic and even music for ice cream vans.
This two-disc set was recorded at the Fujitsu/Concord Jazz Festival in Concord, California. The performing roster includes guitarist Howard Alden, a fine, if restrained stylist and his trio, plus soulful, bluesy pianist Gene Harris and award-winning broadcaster/pianist Marian McPartland. Harris' group is augmented by special guest Scott Hamilton, still among the better swing-tinged soloists.
70 years of music! There is hardly any more beautiful summer festival place than that of Menton. Perched above the sea, dominated by the facade and the belfry of a baroque church marvel, protected by the age-old sword of the statue of Saint-Michel and covered by the starry sky, the festival has been welcoming for seventy years the greatest classical artists in the world. Created by André Böröcz, directed by Paul-Emmanuel Thomas, the Menton Festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious in Europe.
The São Paulo Art Biennial (Portuguese: Bienal de São Paulo) was founded in 1951 and has been held every two years since. It is the second oldest art biennial in the world after the Venice Biennale (in existence since 1895), which serves as its role model. Since 1957, the São Paulo Biennial has been held in the Ciccillo Matarazzo pavilion in the Parque do Ibirapuera
