Asylum by CRESSIDA Imports. Asylum Polygram Int'l 2001. After a very promising debut album, Cressida proceeded with a stunning artwork on their sleeve, but somehow I feel that it does not work fully either as the backside of the gatefold is the same but reversed shot of the front. Heyworth had left (but not completely) but was replaced by Culley and flute player McNair also joined (but his interventions will be few).

Cressida was a British progressive rock band, best known for its mellow, symphonic sound. Originally known as Charge, the band was active from 1968 to 1970, and recorded two albums for Vertigo. The roots of Cressida were sown in March 1968, when guitarist "Rock & Roll" John Heyworth answered an advertisement in Melody Maker, and later travelled to London to join The Dominators, a band whose situation he later described as "hopeless - until Angus Cullen applied for the lead singer spot"

It's all sort of the difference between relating to one's music and audience on a retail basis, as opposed to wholesale - Cressida never got past the former, and it makes Asylum a very pleasing album but also a very demanding one. Track Listing.

Cressida were a British art rock band formed at the end of the 1960s, with a sound not dissimilar to the Moody Blues. They combined a heavy organ and Mellotron sound (courtesy of keyboard player Peter Jennings) with vocalist Angus Cullen's singing. Asylum' was produced by Australian Ossie Byrne, known for his production work on the first Bee Gees album
