In the Court of the Crimson King (subtitled An Observation by King Crimson) is the debut album from the English rock band King Crimson, released on 10 October 1969 on Island Records in England and Atlantic Records in America. The album is one of the first and most influential of the progressive rock genre, where the band largely combined blues influences that rock music was founded upon with elements of jazz, classical, and symphonic music.
This release comes in a 12" 12" Box format, with a 12" 12" booklet with new sleeve notes by Robert Fripp & King Crimson biographer Sid Smith, rare photos and archive material, a 12" 12" two-sided reprint of the original album sleeve, 2 b/w promo photo reprints in an envelope and 2 pins.

Bruford left Yes to join King Crimson. I thought Thrak was a bit stuck in that "Dinosaur" mode but it had some very good songs on it. Fripp is an odd guy but you have to respect the man. Kent, Bruford and Levin are still with he band to my knowledge though Levin also still plays with Peter Gabriel. I could be wrong about Levin, he could have left recently, not sure, but I know Bruford's still with them as far as it goes, they are kind of loose and do a lot of solo stuff. Reg from Kemptville, OnFor me this album has two disapointments: 1. "21st Century Schizoid Man" and 2. The ending of "Court of the Crimson King" - it's a lot of noise that doesn't suite the rest of the song. and all that "noodling" on "Moonchild" is great Listening music.
King Crimson made their live debut on 9 April 1969, and made a breakthrough by playing the Rolling Stones free concert at Hyde Park, London in July 1969, before an estimated 250,000 to 500,000 people. Initial sessions for the album were held in early 1969 with producer Tony Clarke, most famous for his work with The Moody Blues Reissues. In the Court of the Crimson King was reissued several times in the 1980s and 1990s through Polydor and EG Records, with pressings made from copies that were several generations removed from the stereo sub-master tape. This resulted in sub-par audio quality and audible tape hiss.
Magic and King Crimson never seemed to be far apart during 1969. Even before they had played a proper gig there was an expectant buzz doing the rounds about the monstrous sounds emanating from the band’s rehearsal room in the cellar of a café on Fulham Palace Road in west London
