Randy Newman is the eponymous debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Randy Newman, released in 1968 by Reprise Records. Unlike his later albums, which featured Newman and his piano backed by guitar, bass guitar and drums, Randy Newman was highly orchestral and aimed to blend the orchestra with Newman's voice and piano.

It’s Money that Matters (featuring Dire Straits’ Mark Knopfler on a very Money for Nothing -like guitar riff) caught listeners’ attention even as it upped the cynicism quotient, giving Newman a Mainstream Rock chart-topper (the only Number One record of his career, on any chart).

Land of Dreams is a 1988 album by Randy Newman featuring vignettes of his childhood in New Orleans. The best-known song on the album is "It's Money That Matters", which rose to the top of the Mainstream Rock chart for two weeks (and peaked at on the Hot 100), to become Newman's only number one hit on any . Prior to the album's release, the song "Something Special" was closing title music for the 1987 MGM production Overboard starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell and was also featured in the trailer of th. . chart; it features Mark Knopfler on guitar.

Having recently enjoyed Randy Newman's latest album Harps and Angels I dug out this album originally released in 1988. People more familiar with Newman's back catalogue will undoubtedly recommend others but Land Of Dreams is my favourite Randy Newman album.
