Rather than an early (for 1965) garage album, this is actually a slightly late, early 60's style frat/rock hold-over. It's your basic teenage, garage driven, dance band style pop and R&B covers. However, it is so consistently 'pretty good', especially for it's style, that I had to give it another half star higher overall than any of the individual tracks themselves were rated. The band were centered around three brothers: Dick, Ronnie, and Bud Johnson, 16, 15, and 17 years old, respectively

Spats are distinct from gaiters, which are garments worn over the lower trouser leg as well as the shoe. Spats were worn by men and, less commonly, by women in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They fell out of frequent use during the 1920s. Made of white cloth, grey or brown felt material, spats buttoned around the ankle.
