Pelvoux-les Ecrins, is a gate into the mythical Pré de Mme Carle where you can see the confluence of black and white glaciers, this is the starting point for many prestigious races. The top of Pelvoux (3942m) is what gave it its name and the close proximity to the National Park is its best attribute. We very much enjoyed our week in Pelvoux. The apartment is big and airy, with plenty of outside space and fantastic views from the garden. The house itself felt a bit ramshackle at first, but everything works including the dishwasher, the showers and the washing machine, and it made a very comfortable base for exploring the area.
