Val Young (born Valaria Marie Young; June 13, 1958) also known as "Lady V", is an American recording artist from Detroit, Michigan, who achieved success during the 1980s. She is now based in Los Angeles. She was discovered by George Clinton, who hired her as a background vocalist in 1977 for The Brides of Funkenstein, one of the many acts in his Funkadelic stable. In 1980, she recorded and toured with Roy Ayers.

Val Young - Seduction. 8 years ago 8 years ago. Funk. But Young is certainly her own person - in fact, she wrote or co-wrote the lyrics for six of the nine songs. Though parts of Seduction are very James-influenced, "Let's Fall in Love" and "Tellin' Me Lies" are closer to the type of material that Kashif would have produced for Evelyn "Champagne" King in the 1980s.

Val Young's "Seduction" was a grossly underrated R&B album that should have received a LOT of attention but didn't. The vocals were strong,the production slick, the tracks memorable. Yet, somehow this one fell through the cracks. For any true die-hard Rick James or soul,R&B,funk fan(especially of this era) this is one album or cd absolutely worth obtaining if you come across a copy or are able to purchase the import!
