It is named after the dawn chorus, the natural sound of birds heard at dawn, most noticeably in the spring. The Little Flower Girl" – 3:37. Postcard Day" – 5:07. The Water Carrier" – 2:56. A Better Moon" – 3:46. The Jasmine Corridor" – 3:54. The Habanero Reel" – 4:01.

An Ian Anderson solo album can, as far as I am concerned, never be compared with a Jethro Tull album. The only similarities is the flute sound and the vocals. But I would certainly not put it up there with Jethro Tull's music. But this is a decent Folk Pop album in it's own right.

Finally the album fans have always demanded of Anderson - and he delivers with aplomb, wit, finesse, and endless inventiveness. It's a wonder Birds hasn't become a classic among Tullites, since it easily surpasses Tull's outings from the nineties onwards. While it may not have the flying sparks of "The Witch's Promise" or the cheeky melodies of "LIfe's A Long Song", this acoustic dish satisfies more with each listening.
