Beethoven: Symphony No 9, Overtures. One of his earliest purchases was a complete set of the 9 Beethoven symphonies featuring the Geneva ensemble L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande led by the Swiss conductor Ernest Ansermet (1883-1969). Being of Swiss ancestry himself and not knowing that much about classical music at the time, the Swiss factor was instrumental in his purchasing the set.
