Siw Gunnel Margareta Malmkvist (born 31 December 1936) is a Swedish singer who has been popular in Scandinavia and West Germany. She had a number one hit in West Germany in 1964 with "Liebeskummer lohnt sich nicht" (English: "Lovesickness Is Not Worthwhile"), and on 18 July 1964 she became the first Swede to have a hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, when "Sole Sole Sole", a duet with Italian singer Umberto Marcato, entered the chart, peaking at #58.

Siw Malmkvist recorded the song in Swedish, "Våran katt", in Danish, "Vores kat" and in German, "Schwarzer Kater Stanislaus" (1962). The song has appeared in numerous films, including the 1989 film Shag, starring Phoebe Cates and Bridget Fonda, the 1994 film Cabin Boy, starring Chris Elliott and Andy Richter, the 1999 film Just Looking, starring Ryan Merriman, the 2000 film Duets, starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis and the 2004 film Imaginary Heroes, starring Sigourney Weaver and Emile Hirsch.

Not only is Siw Malmkvist a well known Swedish singer, she is also an actress, TV hostess and a muscial artist. Siw is without a doubt a woman with many skills. As little children, Siw and her sister Lill would often sing together, just because it was fun to sing. The album was unfortunately not a big hit but somehow Siw’s career got a good start anyway. She went on tour with famous Swedish artists such as Putte Wickman and Arne Domnérus. She even got an offer to go on tour with Povel Ramel, but due to health problems she had to cancel.
