Shout! is the debut studio album released by The Isley Brothers on the RCA Victor label in 1959. It was produced by Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore. Released after the success of the title track, the group were rushed into a recording studio to record much of the album, which included another Isley standard, the uncharted "Respectable", which like "Shout", was also covered by rock acts

Isley Brothers - Twist and Shout. You make me wanna shout. on their Volume 3 album in 1965 and 15 Great Hits album in 1966. Tommy James and the Shondells recorded a version of the song on their 1967 album, I Think We're Alone Now. The Ronettes frequently covered the song in live performances as well, including their appearance in The Big TNT Show. The Trammps released a version of the song in 1975. The song, as performed by Otis Day and the Knights, was also prominently featured in the 1978 fraternity house film National Lampoon's Animal House.

The Isley Brothers did not consider this a song at first. It was just a "thing" they would do onstage and the crowd would go nuts. They knew they were onto something when Jackie Wilson, who they were opening for, started using the stop-and-go style in his show. They did very well, selling out many of the places they played, and released an album in 1989 called Shout. Otis Day's real name is DeWayne Jessie. In the UK, this is the song that introduced the singing sensation Lulu.
