William Royce "Boz" Scaggs (born June 8, 1944) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is known for his worldwide chart topping albums of the late 1970s as well as the songs "Lido Shuffle" and the Grammy award winning "Lowdown" from the critically acclaimed album Silk Degrees (1976), which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Scaggs continues to write, record music, and tour.

When Boz Scaggs released Other Roads in 1988, he'd been off the scene for a full eight years. Produced by Bill Schnee, it featured some of his most unlikely songwriting collaborations with instrumental backing by Toto along with some studio aces. Scaggs tried hard to walk a line between the decade's obsession with more processed studio sounds that utilized electronic keyboards and drum machines up front, while relying more heavily on electric guitars and kit drums  . While Other Roads didn't scale the charts as an album, and is regarded as a minor work, hearing it in the 21st century reveals Scaggs' ambition and vision reach outside the box in a collection of great songs - even if the production doesn't fare as well as the material.

Boz Scaggs is the second album by Boz Scaggs; it was released in 1969. After two years with the Steve Miller Band, Scaggs set out on his own, recording at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Sheffield, Alabama. Backing musicians on the album include Duane Allman, Eddie Hinton, Jimmy Johnson, Barry Beckett, David Hood, Roger Hawkins, and Al Lester.

Other Roads is an album by Boz Scaggs, released in 1988. After an eight-year hiatus from recording, Boz Scaggs returned in 1988 with the album Other Roads, a record aimed primarily at the adult contemporary market. The album reached on the Billboard pop album chart, while the lead single Heart of Mine was a big Adult Contemporary success, peaking at on that chart. The single also reached on the Billboard pop singles chart. When Boz Scaggs released Other Roads in 1988, he'd been off the scene for a full eight years.

Jazz Rock Boz Scaggs. Band Name Boz Scaggs. Album Name Other Roads.

Boz Scaggs takes nothing for granted, especially his voice. Each day before soundcheck on his just-wrapped tour, he put his vocal cords through their paces. For about six or seven minutes, he formed long oohs and aahs, pushing his throat to a strenuous point before easing it back down. It’s like lifting weights with your voice, Scaggs, 74, says. Compared to years ago, I probably take better care of my voice now than then. But playing off his current album, Out of the Blues, a Scaggs show will also feature blues and R&B covers and originals, and even dip back to his simmering classic Loan Me a Dime. That breadth is characteristic of a career that’s not only stretched out over 50 years but encompassed multiple genres.

If Boz Scaggs worked in TV, he'd be Des Lynam. Throughout a career that has spanned three and a half decades, Scaggs has maintained an air of stylish relaxation - even during his days as singer and guitarist with the Steve Miller Band in 1960s San Francisco. Indeed, he's so mellow that Dig is his first new album for seven years. I'm not a full-time, gs-every-day guy," Scaggs says, with a rueful smile. It takes me a while to really move into that mode of high concentration and recording
