The album cover for Alice in Chains self-titled album and last with Layne Staley is sometimes referred to as the Tripod because the album cover features a photo of a three-legged dog. The dog named Sunshine was actually owned by guitarist Jerry Cantrell. Here’s a great shot of the band with Sunshine the dog. I recently came across another photo of Sunshine sharing a sweet moment with Layne Staley. Alice in Chains kept the 3 legged theme going on the back cover as well by using a photo of Frank Lentini.
Jack White tries to play matchmaker for Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy on the season finale of ABC’s The Muppets with a cover of Stevie Wonder’s You Are the Sunshine of My Life. Backed by Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, White opens Wonder’s Talking Book hit with a sinister twist - making it slightly reminiscent of his own Freedom at 21 - but sidles back into its sultry, soft rock grooves.
These songs are whiskey-soaked in bittersweet lament, but this is definitely not an alcohol-fueled pity party
