Beautifully played by Cantilena under Adrian Shepherd, and, thank Heaven! on modern instruments! (It's amazing how hard it is to find recordings of lesser-known Baroque repertoire that are NOT "period" performances on "original" instruments- even the works of Telemann are hard to find on modern instruments. For those of you who, like myself, are not fans of the acrid, thin sonority of so-called "period" performances, this CD, and its sequel, the last three of the overtures and the three Boyce concerti grossi, will be a special and tasty delight!
