Gayle Ackroyd’s Musical Identity has always been firmly planted in Roots Music or thatwhich encompasses folk, country and blues. An Ontario Girl who grew up on a Dairy farm then spent her teenage years in Brampton North West of Toronto, Gayle played piano as a child and then guitar when she started writing songs at the age of 14. Gayle was influenced in her younger years by Singer Songwriters like Carol King, Janis Ian, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. As her interest in becoming a singer developed she listened to Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin, Besse Smith.

Gayle Ackroyd and Blue Dog Chase Rabbit will heat up a chilly fall night with sizzling blues at Brampton Plays the Blues on Nov. 25. The double bill is the third concert of the Friday Folk Night Series hosted by the Brampton Folk Club. She said you can hear her musical influences on the album.
