The discography of Julie London, an American Jazz artist, consists of twenty nine studio albums, one live album, five compilation albums, two additional albums, and twenty-nine singles. After a moderately successful film career, London signed a recording contract with the newly formed Liberty Records in 1955. Her debut single "Cry Me a River" reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1955. In June 1957, it would also peak at number twenty-two on the UK Singles Chart.

LONELY GIRL is Julie's second album for Liberty Records released in 1956 and featuring jazz legend Al Viola on guitar. As a jazz pianist/vocalist myself I have worked with Al Viola personally in Southern California, and interviewed him for my book At Home. Julie's 2nd husband Bobby Troup produced the album and also wrote the title track "Lonely Girl". LONELY GIRL was released as a followup to her wildly successful JULIE IS HER NAME. Backed only by Al Viola on the guitar, Julie is simply wonderful as she sings the title song and other songs of loneliness. A perfect late at night album. I am greatful that this one finally got a legitimate CD release. But keep the 12 LP too. A 12" LONELY GIRL picture is 3 times the CD cover.

Lonely Girl is an LP album by Julie London, released by Liberty Records under catalog number LRP-3012 as a monophonic recording in 1956, and later in rechanneled stereo under catalog number LST-7029 in 1959.
