Atmosphere is an American hip hop duo from Minneapolis, Minnesota, consisting of rapper Slug (Sean Daley) and DJ/producer Ant (Anthony Davis). Since its formation in 1996, the group has released nine studio albums and ten extended plays. The duo is composed of the rapper Slug (Sean Daley) and the DJ/producer Ant (Anthony Davis). With the exception of a few tracks on the album Lucy Ford, Ant has produced every Atmosphere record.

Complete your Atmosphere collection. By that meaning it doesn't have those hard beats that he's been using recently. It's really soft and filled with many great tracks that gives me a "feel good feeling" even though the songs might not have that happy lyrics. This is a must have if you ask me, and the cover is really stylish. Responder Notifícame Helpful.

Hanging Out Breakup Reflection. As the group that helped create the term "emo rap" and give Minnesota and Midwestern rap a place on the map, Atmosphere clearly feel a relative amount of freedom to express themselves however necessary on When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold, their fifth studio full-length.

When Life Gives You Lemon. has been added to your Cart. I don't see why any Atmosphere fan wouldn't be happy with this release. The musicianship here is at it's finest, and Slug delivers in such a personal way that you can't help but to be drawn in. Yes, it's slower, depressing (at times), but the music is still great. Slug still has a killer flow and clever lyrics and Ant's beats have reached perfection.

Also the DVD that comes with it of a live show is pretty sick, def. watch the whole thing if you have it, you can really feel the energy from slug and the band just by watching it. As for old atmosphere stuff I really like Headshots, got Deer Wolf, Abusing of the Rib, and I Wish Those Cats at Fobia Would Give Me Some Free Gear on that album. I knew "Love Life" and "Trying to Find a Balance" from years ago and I had kind of forgotten about how much I loved those songs. Very glad to be discovering new songs from them.

They did a terrific job on this anniversary edition. Looks and sounds great and the children's book is actually pretty good. However, while the black fabric has a great look and feel, you probably need to touch it with gloves if you want to avoid fingerprint residue. :)

Reality raps from Minnesota never sounded better. I was glad to hear this, the perfect backdrop for while I was starting my day cleaning up my apartment. Slug spits story after story ranging from his personal relationships to relatables with tales of people who from the outside looking in have thrown their lives away but, that’s just not the case, considering the first track - which levels the playing field for the joys and pitfalls in the humanity production known as life that is masterfully described through Slug’s storytelling . whether it’s a tale of a homeless man rarely noticed except by a waitress he sees everyday, or the tale of women waking up to lives they are familiar with yet would rather claim stranger to, down to griots of little girls distracting themselves through whatever daddy plays on the speaker while he is up to no good trying to keep their relationship going in the opposite direction of regret which Slug ends up reminiscing over on this record, “When Life Gives You Lemons ...” is a koladioscope of life over Ant’s electro-tinged hip-hop inspired beats, perfectly blended for the 2008-era it was created in made to be enjoyed and studied as a touchstone for eons ahead of it’s original release date

This album is great, the style is a little more like "Seven's Travels" than "You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having" in the style. By that meaning it doesn't have those hard beats that he's been using recently. It's really soft and filled with many great tracks that gives me a "feel good feeling" even though the songs might not have that happy lyrics. This is a must have if you ask me, and the cover is really stylish.

Dope, Dope, Dope! Ant & Slug are back (after about A MONTH) and they haven't spared a thing when it comes to production, lyrics, packaging & bonus shit, the hard cover book/digipack is stylish & the embossed Rhymesayers Entertainment logo on the back is all class (it ain't called Deluxe Edition for nuthin'). After the release of 'Strictly Leakage' & 'SCBD 9-12' all in the past six months you'd be forgiven for thinking that an album released so soon would be a let down & lack in any substance & depth but nothing could be further from the truth, in actual fact it's the 5 releases just mentioned that contain some of the tracks cut from this LP. When it comes to production Ant has opted for a more synthesized sound than usual and it compliments Slug's storytelling beautifully, what can I say, these 2 are one of the most prolific teams in Hip Hop over the last decade. The limited edition DVD 'SCBD 13' is a great chance to see Atmosphere live with a full band for any of you that happened to miss the 'Atmospheretravel's World Tour' a few years back which had a similar line up, I've tried in vein to describe the gig to friends & they can now see for themselves what I was on about. Slug's clarity in his vocal delivery is amongst the very best MCs not only in the studio but as these two performances mixed together @ First Avenue prove he rocks the shit live and commands your full attention. The children's story book is quite interesting & runs along the lines of the albums content but I think it's a little heavy for your average 4 year old tucked up waiting for a light-hearted bedtime story. To be honest I hate compact discs and the last one I bought was sometime back in the 90's (give me vinyl any day), the only gripe I do have with the album is that I had to purchase it on CD to get the book & DVD, you'd think that bonus material would be limited to the vinyl release for the true heads of Hip Hop Culture, but I wasn't disappointed. 5 stars.
