Andy Williams, who was a bit younger than his peers, needed no such encouragement, as he had been drawing on the recent hit parade for some of his material for years. Where earlier Williams albums had been a canny mix of movie songs, standards, pop hits, and foreign - especially French - material, ten of Honey's 11 tracks were songs that had been Top 40 hits in the last two years.

Andy Williams' successive LP releases of 1968 and 1969, Honey and Happy Heart, are well-paired on this two-fer CD reissue. At this point in his career, the versatile Williams, who had found his greatest success covering movie theme songs, but also ranged from light rock to venerable standards, was completely devoted to recording his versions of current hits. Also, his rendition of "Abraham, Martin and John," a tribute to his friend Robert F. Kennedy, was clearly heartfelt. Still, this album, which could be subtitled "Andy Williams Sings the Late '60s," presents only one side of his talent. 1 The Impossible Dream (The Quest) Andy Williams 2:32. 2 This Is My Song Andy Williams 2:49. 3 By the Time I Get to Phoenix Andy Williams 3:43. 4 Theme from Valley of the Dolls Andy Williams 3:33. 5 Scarborough Fair/Canticle Andy Williams 3:35.
