High is the fourth studio album by Scottish band The Blue Nile, released on 30 August 2004 on Sanctuary Records. Versions of "Soul Boy" had already been released by Edyta Górniak in 1997 on her self-titled second album and by former Spice Girl Melanie C on her 2003 album Reason.

The group was formed by three Glasgow natives who had graduated from university there: itarist Paul Buchanan, bassist Robert Bell, and keyboardist Paul Joseph Moore. Engineer Callum Malcolm and drummer Nigel Thomas have worked with the trio consistently, to the point of being considered secondary bandmembers

The Blue Nile’s music also sounds like falling in love, slow and starry-eyed, with melodies that fizzle and glow like streetlights. By the time they released their sophomore album, Hats, in the autumn of 1989, Buchanan was 33 years old, and his songs, once littered with bold declarations of love, now seemed to be composed entirely of ellipses and question marks. The members of the Blue Nile met while they were students at the University of Glasgow.
