Alexander O'Neal is an R&B/soul singer born in Natchez, Mississippi. At one time he was the lead singer of Minneapolis funk outfit The Time until a conflict with Prince lead to him being replaced with Morris Day. He still ended up making hits with two other castoffs from The Time who ran afoul of Prince: superproducers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Beginning in 1985, Alex would become known for a string of hit albums recorded with Jam & Lewis, as well as hits like Saturday Love and Never Knew Love Like This with duet partner and labelmate Cherrelle. After a long hiatus following his five albums for Tabu Records, O'Neal returned in 2008 with a covers album entitled Alex Loves. Popular Alexander O'Neal songs.
Alex Love. s O’Neal’s first studio album in over five years, though he doesn’t look a day older than he did in the 1980s. And this collection also sounds strangely like it was made in 1985 – synthetic as a pair of leg warmers, syrupy as a tin of condensed milk, schlocky as ‘ET’, it features plodding bass, a legion of backing singers and what sounds like a Casio keyboard in overdrive

is the eighth studio album by American recording artist Alexander O'Neal. It was originally released in January 2008, on the label EMI as the follow-up to his 2002 album Saga of a Married Man. The album is considered to be a departure from O'Neal's sound, because it consists of cover versions mainly of standard R&B songs, with the exception of the last song "We're On Our Way", which was co-written by O'Neal.
