Pianist Stanley Black's roots were in jazz and the British dance band scene of the 1930s. By the late '40s and early '50s he had settled into a comfortable existence as a composer of film scores and purveyor of lounge and mood music. Dutton Vocalion here presents two of Black's most understated Decca albums, Red Velvet and Music for Romance.
