Taja Sevelle (born Nancy Richardson, January 7, 1962 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is an American singer, songwriter and musician, best known for her 1987 single, "Love Is Contagious" and for the non-profit organization Urban Farming, which she founded in 2005. Sevelle signed a record contract with Prince's Paisley Park Records in 1987.

With Toys of Vanity, Taja Sevelle attempts to leave behind funk and urban soul roots and refashion herself as a contemporary singer-songwriter, complete with a vague spirtuality and trip-hop beats. The production is pleasant, there's a couple of good grooves and Sevelle has a few strong songs, but in the end there's not enough on Toys of Vanity to establish her as a rival to Beth Orton, Everything But The Girl or Fiona Apple.
