Radial Spangle was an indie rock band from Norman, Oklahoma, United States, that released two albums in the 1990s. The band was formed in 1991 by Alan Laird (vocals, guitar), April Tippens (bass guitar), and former Flaming Lips drummer Richard English. The band members were friends of Mercury Rev, whose David Fridmann engineered their debut album, Ice Cream Headache, released in 1993 on the Mint Tea label. The album featured boy/girl vocal harmonies and an array of guitar effects

What's the matter with the passing of time? How many great artifacts may sink into oblivion? Ok, this is not a masterpiece or anything close to it but, c'mon, there's more originality and fun in "Ice Cream Headache" than in a lot of other renowned bands' full discography. Well, fanaticism aside, this record(also available on vinyl, btw)is an explosion of simple but highly hypnotic and infectious grooves, weird sound landscapes and humorous bursts of energy as if Mercury Rev had gone hardcore or some 70's acid and space rockers had decided to try indie (hard) pop . Wonderful music and fantastic value for money so grab it as soon as you see it again in the dollar bin.

Can't agree enough with paxpunk. This is a very eclectic and rewarding album. Fantastic drumming by Richard English!
