Bon Jovi listened to that song while travelling on a tour bus in 1985. Consequently this song tells a story of a rock singer constantly on a road as if he is a cowboy. When Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora performed this song only on acoustic guitars at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1989, it inspired the channel to launch the Unplugged series of performances. The producers of the film "Young Guns II" (1990) wanted to use this song in the film, but its lyrics were not quite fitting. album: "Slippery When Wet" (1986).

This is Bon Jovi's best album, The whole album is great. The start of the album is great too, Lay Your Hands on Me is a hell of a way to start off an album, then followed by Bad Medicine. Of all the Bon Jovi albums I tend to like this one the best even though it never sold as well or had as many hits as SSW or NJ. I like the rawness and brashness of it before they made it big and were all glam. Not as polished as their later albums but still a great album in its own right. One of the better rock releases of 1984.

I walk these streets, a loaded six string on my back I play for keeps, 'cause I might not make it back I been everywhere, still I'm standing tall I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all! 'Cause I'm a cowboy On a steel horse, I ride I'm wanted (wanted) dead or alive. And I'm a cowboy I got the night on my side And I'm wanted (wanted) dead or alive. The song Wanted Dead or Alive is off of the band’s album Slippery When Wet. Its title was also considered for the album’s name, leading to a photo that would be repurposed as the single cover. The song is about the life of a rock star, written in the perspective of a cowboy in the wild west. The band stated that it was extremely easy to write the lyrics because every one of them is based upon their actual experiences as a band. Wanted Dead Or Alive" Track Info. Bon Jovi eventually built up more of an audience a year later with its much-improved sophomore album, 7800° Fahrenheit. But it wasn't until the world-conquering, multi-platinum Slippery When Wet, released in 1986, that they began their 30-year domination. In the group's defense, Bon Jovi turned out quite well for such a hastily assembled first effort. And no one can argue with the long-term results, as Bon Jovi powered forward toward late-‘80s ubiquity and then survived the grunge era that felled so many of their peers. Bon Jovi Albums Ranked
