When Hills Christian Life Centre changed its name to Hillsong Church the international churches also did so. Hillsong London have planted extension services in Surrey and in Paris. Another trend is for churches to change their name to a popular name or word that represents the church. For example, Hills Christian Life Centre which became Hillsong Church once the name Hillsong became more well-known than the church name. The Hills campus of HILC began as the training arm of Hills Christian Life Centre in 1988 as an extension of IICM. It began under the leadership of Ian Fuller with around 75 students. In the early 1980s, Brian and Bobbie Houston started a church on the Central Coast, and a church in Liverpool. In 1983, they moved to Sydney's north-western suburbs and hired the Baulkham Hills Public School hall to start a new church, Hills Christian Life Centre.
