Kansas is the debut studio album by American progressive rock band Kansas, released in 1974 by Kirshner in the United States and Epic Records in other countries. Kansas's debut album followed the merging of two Topeka musical camps: Kerry Livgren, from a previous Kansas line-up, and White Clover, which played mainstream rock and blues. The newly formed group signed with Kirshner Records in 1973 and traveled to New York to record their first release.

I also enjoyed the Monolith album (1979), which is represented by three tracks. The last track on the set was written specifically for this box set and it is really nice; I prefer it over the three selections from Audio Visions. This "box set" is generally nice and features an informative booklet with photos of the group. The sound quality is not bad at all, although there are issues with the sound level across tracks

The songs that they don't know - that is, the songs that form the bulk of this collection - may be among the best of the album tracks, but they still are weighed down by pomp and circumstance and are primarily of interest to hardcore fans, who will already have the original records.

Kansas is a music studio album recording by KANSAS (Symphonic Prog/Progressive Rock) released in 1974 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. They can be quite American hard rock, as reveal the common electric guitar parts: their hard rock parts sound a bit like the bands Styx and Shooting Star. There is an omnipresent rhythmic piano a bit a la Kayak. There is also an omnipresent conventional rhythmic organ. Having released this debut album in 1974, Kansas put themselves under spotlight because of the music they dared play, which was so difference from their peers in America at the time.
