The content and coherence of the typical Mindrocker volume varies widely. On both counts, this 28-song double album is one of the less impressive entries in the series. Populated by a lot of bands on the cusp between garage, pop, and psychedelia, it's easy to spot the influences - Beatles, Stones, Beau Brummels, Yardbirds, whatever.

Initially, Mindrocker was comparable to the popularity and specialization of the Pebbles series, however, with the ready availability of most of its material via digital means or specified anthologies, the series has not managed to endure as long as other relatable collections. Nonetheless, during its original run, Mindrocker was pivotal to the revival of garage rock. Most of the volumes were arranged to a certain region or record label, though some pieces of the series hold no such pattern.

Mindrocker contains 210 tracks of pure, unadulterated '60s US Punk Garage Psych fury. With the vast amount of '60s Garage and Psych compilations that have appeared from around the world in the last few years, it's easy to understand why so many fans of the genre have felt overwhelmed by the deluge. There are, however, a select group of compilations that are widely regarded as genuine must-haves for collectors of '60s singles. I am disappointed to say the least with the lack of quality control that evidently went into to this product.
