Vic Godard (born Victor John Napper) is a British singer-songwriter formerly of the punk group Subway Sect. He is now also a solo performer, while continuing to appear with various incarnations of Subway Sect. Born Victor John Napper in Mortlake, south-west London, Godard was raised in nearby Barnes.

In the past we had to make due with just a couple of 7" records that whet all appetites but failed to satisfy completely in their brevity. Though Godard discovered jazz-pop and swing/soul in 1980, ending this band's most primal and important work in one step, he was the first post-punk artist along with the Banshees, Public Image Lt. Warsaw, and some others who gave us a movement that still burns brightly. Finally here's the necessary extra proof.
