Sister Overdrive (aka Giannis Kotsonis) presents ‘Annick/Philomela’, a collection of two pieces, each split into five distinct parts. Annick’ is an immersive journey made up of metallic noises, drones, distorted crescendos and screaming harmonics. Its sibling ‘Philomela’ (originally composed as a theatre piece) is darker and yet warmer at the same time, making beautiful use of processed instrumentation, along with field samples and deep (quite deep) pulsations.

Philomela (/ˌfɪləˈmiːlə/) or Philomel (/ˈfɪləˌmɛl/; Greek: Φιλομήλη, Philomēlē) is a minor figure in Greek mythology and is frequently invoked as a direct and figurative symbol in literary, artistic, and musical works in the Western canon. She is identified as being the "princess of Athens" and the younger of two daughters of Pandion I, King of Athens, and Zeuxippe. Her sister, Procne, was the wife of King Tereus of Thrace.

Philomela was a female character in Greek mythology, daughter of King Pandion I of Athens and Zeuxippe. Philomela, however, although unable to speak, managed to weave the crime onto a tapestry and brought it to her sister. When Procne found out what had happened, she killed her son Itys, boiled him, and served him to Tereus. Unaware, Tereus ate the meal, and he only found out when Procne and Philomela presented the severed head of Itys to him. Tereus grabbed an axe and started chasing the two sisters, who fled and started praying to the gods. The gods answered their prayers and turned all three of them into birds; Procne into a swallow, Philomela into a nightingale, and Tereus into a hoopoe.
