Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic is the twenty-third studio album by American recording artist Prince under the unpronounceable "Love Symbol", as shown on the album cover. Distributed on November 2, 1999 by NPG Records and Arista Records, the album was issued shortly after the release of The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale (1999). It includes several guest appearances, including by Gwen Stefani, Eve, and Sheryl Crow; Prince also completed a cover of Crow's 1996 single "Everyday Is a Winding Road".

Instead, he sticks to his guns with Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic, delivering an album that's frighteningly similar to the lackluster New Power Soul, only a little slicker and better, and with cameos. Rave, like its predecessor, is stilted and canned, clearly the work of one man with guitars, synths, and a drum machine. It's shocking to hear how perfunctory most of the performances are on Rave, yet it's stranger to hear Prince gunning for the pop charts. Arranged By – Prince Arranged By – Michael B. Disc: 1. 1. Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic. 3. The Greatest Romance Ever Sold. I tend to be a fan of the more ballad type of songs that Prince does/did and even thought his album is not the best ever, it does feature 4 songs worth mentioning: The greatest Romance Ever Told (good) Tangerine (a bit less so), and my two favourites: Everyday is a winding road (super driving song, try keeping still to that one).

In 1993, during negotiations regarding the release of The Gold Experience, a legal battle ensued between Warner Bros. and Prince over the artistic and financial control of his musical output. During the lawsuit, Prince appeared in public with the word "slave" written on his cheek. He explained that he had changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol to emancipate himself from his contract with Warner Bros.

See Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic for singles from that album that also feature on this album in alternate forms. The album followed a similar song structure to Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic, but two tracks (Everyday Is A Winding Road and Strange But True) were removed, and a different track (Beautiful Strange, which had previously been released on the Beautiful Strange home video in an alternate form) was added. Five of the tracks are remixes with new musical elements (Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic, Undisputed (The Moneyapolis Mix), The Greatest Romance Ever Sold, Hot Wit U (Nasty Girl Remix), and Man'O'War (Remix)). There are no known variants of Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic itself. The cover image uses the same photograph as Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic, but Prince's eyes look towards (instead of away from) the viewer.
