When initial conversations took place between Goldie and SCAR regarding the album Goldie gave the guys full license to create whatever they wanted and what we have been given is a melting pot of 2016 London music. Production collaborations have been kept to an absolute minimum aside from vocal features; Naomi Pryor is the ever present voice of the album with further contributions from Eleanor Higgins and Ray Uptown. The influences for The Orkyd Project shine a further light on the story; from Bill Withers to Massive Attack via Eric B and Rakim.

This album features some stunningly good tracks, smoothly produced using superb sounds and ideas. But Scar and Naomi completely nail it. The vinyl release is rounded out by For a While. Another final trip to the dark side but again, really well done. Trademark Scar with that tearing bass underneath. A banging track to round out the album. This album is littered with real quality tracks, not the usual throw away D & B, of which there is lot of about these days; but tracks of real substance. There are 16 tracks on the CD and digital release, but I have concentrated on the vinyl and the sampler.

Golden Lama

This album features some stunningly good tracks, smoothly produced using superb sounds and ideas. Its very different to other albums on this legendary label, as it has a broad range of sounds that all work once you get you head around it. It features many songs with vocals that are beautifully sung with real passion and emotion, woven together using well thought out instruments, drums, baselines, synths and effects. Many of the arrangements used are typical d&b formulas that are really effective, reminding you that this is a Metalheadz production which manages to stretch the boundaries of the core headz sound as it chops and changes from stunning downtempo bass music, avante garde synth pop, sublime liquid funk masterpieces and grimey, distopian dark steppers. This is an album that requires a few listens, but once it has played through it suddenly makes sense as it takes you on a first class journey through various electronic realms. Brave and classy stuff
