Erasure is the seventh studio album by Erasure, released in 1995. It was produced by Thomas Fehlmann (of The Orb) and Gareth Jones. An overtly experimental and introspective album, Erasure contains eleven, mostly mid-tempo tracks that differed from their past output of shiny, three-minute pop songs. Most tracks clocked in at five minutes or more, several contained long synth interludes, and guest artists included the London Community Gospel Choir and performance artist Diamanda Galás.

The album was released in the USA with a different tracklisting (see above) and features a different mix of ‘Oh L’Amour’. A limited run t-shirt, in burgundy or cream, featuring artwork adapted from the original vinyl label was also produced to mark the reissue.

Clarke definitely aims for a more spacy atmosphere throughout Erasure, assisted by sometime Orb compatriot Thomas Fehlmann. While the catchy hooks with which Clarke made his name remain, the arrangements show more grandiose reflections and less full-on dancefloor fun, more Jarre than Moroder. Songs are often much longer than the quick, punchy numbers the duo became known for, sometimes getting a bit lost along the way as a result.
