Pixies agreed to a United States distribution deal with Elektra Records before releasing their third album, Doolittle. Doolittle was the most successful album for Pixies, earning them a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America in 1995 (along with Surfer Rosa in 2005). Following a hiatus in 1989, the band reconvened to release Bossanova in 1990 and Trompe le Monde in 1991, before breaking up in 1993  . Live in Baltimore, MD. Sonar.

Last year saw the Pixies celebrate the 30th anniversary of their seminal debut album, Surfer Rosa. The forthcoming effort is due for release in September. Writing sessions for the as-yet-untitled LP were convened throughout 2018, while recording took place this past December at Dreamland studios near Woodstock, New York. While Pixies don’t yet have a single for release, fans won’t have to wait too long for a peek into the new album. They have teamed up with Signal Co. No1, a NY-based podcast company, to launch a new weekly series documenting the group’s recording process. Every episode will document the band’s new music, from its earliest stages through to completion, giving fans the opportunity to witness the evolution of the tracks, the statement reads.

Collected for the first time, the reissue will contain the Pixies’ 1987 eight track mini-LP, Come on Pilgrim, and their 1988 debut album, Surfer Rosa. It also includes a bonus radio session, Live From The Fallout Shelter, which aired on WJUL-FM in 1986. Vaughan Oliver has returned to reinterpret his original artwork. The Pixies have announced five shows at London’s Roundhouse, from October 30th to November 3rd. They will perform Come on Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa from start to finish. Come on Pilgri. t’s Surfer Rosa will be released on September 28th.

Their fourth album, Sonic Temple was produced by Bob Rock and delivered three top 40 hits in the UK (‘Fire Woman’, ‘Edie (Ciao Baby)’, ‘Sun King’) and sold over . million copies in the US alone. Beggars Arkive will reissue this album in three physical variations including a 5CD super deluxe box set with the album, B-sides, remixes demos and live tracks and a 3LP+cassette box set which covers similar ground

Pixies have announced the second album of their post-reunion phase. Head Carrier will be released on 30 September, via Pixiesmusic/Play It Again Sam. And unlike their last album, 2014’s Indie Cindy – whose songs had all appeared on three four-track EPs before the album – this was conceived of as a complete album. The first single from the album, Um Chagga Lagga, is streaming now. For those fearing that sounds like a most unPixies-like title, the album also contains a song with the none-more-Pixies sounding title of Baal’s Back. The band spent six weeks in pre-production, writing and arranging.
