The Climax Blues Band (originally known as The Climax Chicago Blues Band) is a British blues rock band. The band was formed in Stafford, England, in 1967 by vocalist and harmonica player Colin Cooper (1939–2008), guitarist and vocalist Pete Haycock (1951–2013), guitarist Derek Holt (b. 1949), bassist and keyboardist Richard Jones (b. 1949), drummer George Newsome (b. 1947), and keyboardist Arthur Wood (1929–2005).

The Blues Band is a British blues band formed in 1979 by Paul Jones, former lead vocalist and harmonica player with Manfred Mann, and guitarist Tom McGuinness also of Manfred Mann and The Roosters. The band’s first line-up also included bassist Gary Fletcher, slide-guitarist Dave Kelly who had previously played with The John Dummer Band, Howling Wolf and John Lee Hooker and drummer Hughie Flint, of John Mayall's Blues Breakers and McGuinness Flint, the band he formed with Tom McGuinness.

The is the Big Blues Band, horns,keyboards all live at the Town and Country Club, and I a cracking live set over the two discs. Recorded just after the 'Fat City' album hit the market many of the songs from it come in this set, several of the extra musicians here also performed on that album. Joining Paul Jones, Dave Kelly, Tom McGuinness, Gary Fletcher and Rob Townsend (yes ! still exactly the same line up as it is now).

The album was originally a private pressing, recorded live and released by the band themselves, but it sold so well it was re-released intact by Arista after signing the band to a contract. The Blues Band became so popular that they got together as a permanent unit and recorded another album in 1980 called Ready. This release is a part of BGO's reissue program of the Blues Band's original albums in the 2 on 1 CD series
