It Ain't Easy is the fourth album by American rock band Three Dog Night, released in 1970. According to lead singer Chuck Negron's book Three Dog Nightmare, the album's working title was The Wizards of Orange, with a cover featuring the band's members wearing orange make-up and posing in the nude.

In 1422, Henry VI succeeded his father Henry V and became King of England-at just nine months old. Thanks to his father’s military conquests, Henry VI also became the disputed King of France. In 1445, Henry VI married Margaret of Anjou, a noble and strong-willed Frenchwoman whose ambition and political savvy overshadowed her husband’s. All was not well in King Henry’s court. He had little interest in politics and was a weak ruler. This incited rampant lawlessness throughout his realm and opened the door for power-hungry nobles and kingmakers to plot behind his back. After his official coronation, Henry married Elizabeth of York to reconcile the long-feuding Lancaster and York houses. This union ended the Wars of the Roses and gave rise to the Tudor Dynasty. Medieval Sourcebook: Jack Cade: Proclamation of Grievances, 1450.

The second phase of the Wars of the Roses was fought between Henry VI of Lancaster and Edward IV of York. Henry defeated the Yorkist army at the second Battle of St. Albans in 1461. Later that year, at the Battle of Towton, Edward slaughtered the Lancastrian army during a blinding snow storm. His victory gave him the crown by right of conquest, not by the death of the king. Parliament finally recognized Edward IV as king of England. He ruled England peacefully for nine years before Henry VI returned to challenge his crown.
